OATS DARK CHOCOLATES

Oats are amongst the most nutrient dense foods and are great sources of carbohydrates and fiber. It is a gluten free whole grain, thus surely an advantage for people suffering from gluten allergy. 

Dark chocolate, on the other hand, is held for being unhealthier which is not so unless consumed as a sugary crap. It is best if consumed in moderation. Dark chocolates are a great source of antioxidants and also help to lower blood pressure. Thus, in my recipe I have combined these two nutritious elements.

Ingredients:

 

  • Coconut Oil- ½ cup
  • Cocoa powder- 1 cup
  • Honey- 4 tbsps
  • Vanilla essence- 1 tsp
  • Salt- 1 pinch
  • Quaker Oats- ½ cup

Procedure:

 

  • Soak Quaker oats in warm water and leave it aside.
  • Melt coconut oil in a pan over the stove top in
    low flame.
  •  Once melted, remove oil from heat and add cocoa powder, honey, vanilla essence and salt. Mix well.
  • Sieve soaked oats and add to the batter.Whisk everything completely until there are no remaining lumps of cocoa powder and the honey has dissolved into the chocolate mixture. (The textured appearance appears due to presence of oats.) 
  • You may also make it attractive using sprinklers. 
  • Pour chocolate into silicon moulds (you may also use ice trays).
  • Transfer it to freezer for 30 minutes or in fridge for at least 1 hour. 
  • Once hardened, pop them out of the moulds and enjoy!

Chocolates are one of the most desired sweets amongst many of us especially children. So, why not make it enriched with the nutritional benefits of many other ingredients. Apart from oats, you can add dry fruits, fresh fruit zest chocolates, dates and many other creative ingredients of your kitchen.

LEMON GINGER TEA

With monsoons and cold winters landing in, there comes greater chances of catching cold and flu. Instead of popping out medicines from your medicine box, take a step ahead to strengthen your immunity. At present, nothing has proven to be the best booster for energy, but one can achieve this by enriching your body with good and healthy food along with appropriate exercise schedules.

Here is one such recipe that can help to strengthen your immunity with the benefits of honey, lemon, mint and ginger. Ginger is one such ingredient that has proven to aid in weight loss, help with gastro-intestinal problems and enriched with anti- inflammatory properties.

Ingredients:

 

  • Water- 2 cups
  • Ginger (grated)- 1 tsp
  • Mint leaves- 4-5
  • Lemon juice- 1 tsp
  • Honey- 1 tsp

Procedure:

 

  • Boil water in a pan.
  • Prior to boiling, add ginger to water
  • Right after the water boils, add mint leaves to it. 
  • Sieve the water in a cup after 2-3 boils
  •      Then add lemon juice and honey in the above mentioned quantities to the sieved water.
  •      Enjoy the nutritional benefits!!

Winters is a season to welcome the greenery around you. Spinach is a winter all-rounder in India filled in innumerous benefits.

Ingredients:

  •      Spinach- 1 cup 
  •      Apple- 1 medium
  •      Pomegranate- ½ cup
  •      Water- 200 ml 
  •       Ice cubes(optional)
  •       Cucumber- ½ (medium)

Procedure:

  •      Blend together all the ingredients
  •    Do not strain the smoothie for the best utilization of the fibre present in fruits and vegetables.

·         Bananas (It has anti- inflammatory property, strengthens nervous system, excellent ingredient for skin and helps beat gastro-intestinal issues)

·         Hemp Seeds (a great source for protein and omega-3 fatty acids, rich in fiber, aids digestion, promotes the health of gut)

·         Dry fruits  (ideal substitute for high calorie snack, rich in dietary fibre)
